Background

I am currently a full time chiropractic student in Toronto, Canada, I have been competing in Crossfit since 2013. I have competed in the CrossFit games three times as an individual and I placed 3rd, 3rd and 2nd. In 2019 I am competing to be crowned the fittest on Earth.

Tell us about yourself!  Your work experience? Education? Training, awards? Anything else we should know?

I grew up in Red Deer, Alberta with 2 brothers (I’m the middle). Worked some odd jobs growing up. Did some gymnastics coaching and work in the service industry. I did some schooling at Red Deer College and the University of British Columbia before Finishing a degree in kinesiology at McGill University and continuing on to complete my Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. I grew up competing in gymnastics until I was about 20 years old. Played some rugby through high school and played box lacrosse until I was about 24.

What is your passion?

I guess my over arching passion would be health. I love to challenge myself and my own physical limits, but especially in ways that promote good health and habits. I like to teach as well and so I’ve used my platforms through chiropractic and crossfit to teach about health and wellness.

Who/what inspires you?

I don’t have any single inspiration in my life. I love to find individuals who are masters of their respective crafts and try to dissect what it is that helps them excel and do my best to internalize those lessons. I look up to everyone from university professors and professional athletes to my peers and family members to help me always improve myself.

“The way you do anything is the way you to everything.”
How do you Drink Metta?

Usually an afternoon pick me up or right after training to get focused for what I have to do next.

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

Not really. I don’t really believe that in the sense that an epiphany makes it sound like some sort of knowledge or information just came to you out of nowhere. I would never just sit around and wait for an epiphany. Big decisions require and deserve a lot of thinking and progress comes from hard work. I try to maintain a mentality that nothing comes fast or easy.

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

I try my best to live as a positive example to others. I’m sometimes not the most vocal person with others I’m around, but I try to inspire through action. Always moving forward towards the next goal.

What are your health/fitness goals?

My fitness and health goals are very different and at the level that I compete it’s hard to find a balance between the two. Fitness: To win the Crossfit Games. Health: Maintain healthy relationships with my family and friends and do some reconnecting after my Crossfit career is over and try to find some new active fitness outlets that I can share with my girlfriend and friends.

What helps you get a good night’s sleep?

A hard days work.

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

By spreading positivity and having a good work ethic/attitude.

What is your favourite time to work out?

Probably just after noon.

What do you listen to when you exercise?

It doesn’t really matter. It’s mostly just background noise. Sometimes I don’t have anything on and don’t even notice. When I’m in charge though I usually like something more easy listening for when I’m lifting or doing skill work, like some country, and throw some hip hop on for conditioning.

What is your favourite way to sweat?

Playing sports, hands down.

What is your favourite time to work out?

I really like to workout in the evening when I get the gym to myself

What is a goal that lights you up?

Right now I’m pretty fired up to finish school and start a new chapter of my life. Beyond that its all about gearing of for the Games this year and making it exciting!

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

The way you do anything is the way you to everything.

Why do you love Metta?

Adaptogenic herbs are something that I need in my hard charging life, and I really connected with the Metta team and things the company wants to accomplish.

What is your passion?

To inspire people to live an amazing fitness filled life full of passion and accomplishments!

Who/what inspires you?

People who overcome what we think of as limits, and do more than anyone ever thought they/we could. People like Dean Karnazes, David Goggins, Tony Robbins, Sally McRae, and I could go on!

“And that was when I learned that we don't have to live by social norms.”
What is your favourite way to sweat?

CrossFit and trail running

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

Kind of... it was more of a slow glow that kept getting brighter. Haha! And that was when I learned that we don't have to live by social norms. I figured out that I could have my own business and not work a normal existence.

What are your health/fitness goals?

To make it to the CrossFit Games in the 40+ and to run a 100 mile marathon in under 24 hours.

What helps you get a good night’s sleep?

CBD oil, and listening to a fictional audiobook.

What is your favourite time to work out?

Anytime! I really like to workout 2-3 times a day when I have the time.

What do you listen to when you exercise?

Country, and everyone gives me all kinds of shit for it! The truth is... once the clock starts, I can't hear anything.

How do you Drink Metta?

Lately, I drink it while I'm driving the van from one city to the next, or when I need a mental jump start!

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

By working as hard as I can at everything that I do, and trying to do my best to show others that I'm doing that, or leading by example.

What is a goal that lights you up?

So many! Having a massive membership at my online coaching program (The Get Better Project). Going to all of the National Parks on The Vantastic Life. Simply working out each day!

Live life with passion! Tony Robbins.

Mia Edgar

Background

I'm an active duty Navy Physician and I did internal medicine for internship and then went to dive school. I take care of divers, submariners and special operators. I've also been competing in CF for a couple of years in the Elite Team division. I love health and wellness and try to really incorporate that into seeing the patient's I see everyday since preventative care is severely lacking in our system.

What is your passion?

My passion is helping others achieve goals whether that be ithrough medicine or through fitness. I love inspiring people to do more than what they have been doing and showing them that they can change their life through nutrition and exercise.

What is your passion?

Teaching, traveling & inspiring others to live healthier, happier, and more fulfilled lives.

Who/what inspires you?

Members of the military actually inspire me because there are so many hardships they have to go through and it really is a big commitment to serve.

“BE yourself, everyone else is already taken :)”
What is your favourite way to sweat?

I love HIIT, long runs and a barbell.

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

I think figuring out that it's great to be busy but that we will never truly achieve 'balance,' we are merely balancing everything and that's completely OK!

What are your health/fitness goals?

I love competing at the elite level and want to continue for a little while longer, but I want to be able to travel more while feeling energized and strong when I stop competing.

What helps you get a good night’s sleep?

Sleepy time tea, winding down and cuddling with my dogs in bed.

What is your favourite time to work out?

If I could train everyday around 10:30-11:00AM that would be my ideal time, before lunch but after coffee! I usually am an after work gym go-er though.

What do you listen to when you exercise?

I love EDM and top hits when I'm doing really fast workouts and rap/hip hop when I'm lifting.

How do you Drink Metta?

I drink it after work or with lunch before my workouts because it is really thirst quenching and it taste's amazing! It gives me that little bit of pick me up before heading to the gym after a long workday.

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

I try to be upbeat and full of energy everyday! I want people to be excited about working out, eating right and pushing themselves in the gym.

What is a goal that lights you up?

Just living life to the fullest and doing everything in your power to make the most of my life whether that be with exercise or sports or work or travel!

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

To never stop learning! It always makes life way more interesting and fulfilling if you realize that you don't know it all and this is just a big journey to learn everything you can while you're on this earth!

Why do you love Metta?

I love the lasting effects of it without it harming my sleep or recovery. I track my heart rate with a Whoop and Apple watch and my recovery can be hindered by caffeine and isn't with Metta. I would rather use a natural product to improve my performance without inhibiting my recovery.]

What is your passion?

Doctor, Athlete, Coach, Wife, Daughter, Friend. I love CrossFit and Human Movement.

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

I read the book the Only Way to Win and it changed the trajectory of my life and my career.

What are your health/fitness goals?

I want to defy age. Age is just a number that is assigned to us, but it is up to us what we do with that age. I just turned 35 and took 6th at an International Sanctioned CrossFit Event, The Fittest In Capetown. I am still hitting personal bests as I age!

I like writing down all my things to do on my task list, reading from a good book and diffusing some good oils next to my bed!

The possibility of making it to the CrossFit Games as a Masters Athlete some day!

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

I never lose- I win or I learn.

Paulina Klimkiewicz

Background

I’m a full-time engineer and part-time travel+lifestyle blogger. I have a bachelor’s and master’s in mechanical engineering but I’m surprisingly not a big nerd. I have been to 35 countries so far and recently did a 5-month long trip round the world.

Why do you love Metta?

I love the energy and focus it gives me. I have genetically high blood pressure so it’s a perfect alternative for me to get an energy boost without any stimulants.

What is your passion?

Traveling – I love trying new food, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people.

Who/what inspires you?

The possibility that anything is possible inspires me daily.

“Through my own fitness journey, I’ve learned that anything is possible.”
What is your favourite way to sweat?

I used to be team Cardio all the way especially with spin classes, but I’ve really been enjoying lifting more and more. I do love getting outside and running whenever possible.

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

Haha I’m still waiting for this one!

What are your health/fitness goals?

Healthy and fit. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was little and a couple of years ago, I made a conscious decision to put my health and fitness as my priority. My ultimate goal is to be comfortable in my body and never let it be a limiting factor in what I’m doing – hiking, biking, running, adventuring…

What helps you get a good night’s sleep?

To be quite honest, I’m a great sleeper. If I could put ‘professional sleeper’ on my resume, I would! I can ‘flip the switch’ and fall asleep within seconds essentially anywhere – I call it my superpower.

What is your favourite time to work out?

Mornings! I love starting the day with a good workout. I’ve noticed that if I train in the morning, I’m way more productive during the day.

What do you listen to when you exercise?

Mostly Electro/EDM. I need something upbeat to keep me going.

How do you Drink Metta?

Sometimes I grab one out of the fridge on my way to the gym in the morning and drink it while I drive. Sometimes I have one mid afternoon for a pick me up at my desk if I need to focus and get stuff done.

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

Through my own fitness journey, I’ve learned that anything is possible. I know that if I push myself, it’s going to be hard but at the end, I will succeed. I go back to those moments for motivation to conquer the next goal.

What is a goal that lights you up?

My goal is to visit 50 countries before I’m 50.. I’m at 35 countries now so I think it’s doable!

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Anything is possible.

Background

I work with a variety of athletes from in the sport performance space including Team Canada Volleyball and Basketball players as well as current Professional Dunkers. I am a graduate of the University of Windsor's Human Kinetics program shortly after followed by a Bachelor of Education. I competed as a multi-event track athlete (Pentathlon) and was part of 4 National Championship Teams with the Windsor Lancers. Following track and field I competed for 8-years as a professional show dunker (yes, I dunked basketballs and got paid!). At the peak of my jumping career I possessed a 48" vertical leap. I have been featured on ESPN, TSN and Ballislife.

Why do you love Metta?

Both my wife and I are big proponents of the health and wellness industry and preach eating a whole food diet. Metta was a great substitute for my pre-workout supplements that often left me shaky and nauseous. I'm a huge fan of how the company promotes, how the product tastes and performs. I have a great deal of influence over many up and coming athletes and I'm very comfortable promoting Metta as a PPA approved pre-workout for jumpers aka. Jump Juice!

What is your passion?

Jumping has been my passion from an early age and still holds strong!

Who/what inspires you?

My wife Kelly Ray of The Healthier Self inspires me daily. Her care and work ethic keep me in check and I'm proud to call her my wife!

“Sometimes we must SLOW DOWN, in order to SPEED UP.”
What is your favourite way to sweat?

Nothing feels better than a dunk session for sweating, feeling athletic and letting off steam!

Have you ever had an epiphany - a light bulb moment - that changed your life?

After meeting my wife in 2015 it became very clear to me that I could no longer be one foot in, one foot out with my business. She supported me 100% and after hearing that all she wanted was for me to be fulfilled, I dove into PPA full force. Fast forward 4-years and I am a globally recognized brand within the area of vertical jump training and sport performance.

What are your health/fitness goals?

Currently, I am working to remain a strong advocate for my brand. I have re-introduced dunking back into my training after a 4-year hiatus following my retirement from the game. I recently tested my vertical jump at 40.5" at near 35-years old.

What helps you get a good night’s sleep?

Being off of my phone for at least 1hr before closing my eyes helps me to down regulate and have a more restful sleep.

What is your favourite time to work out?

Late Morning is my preferred time.

What do you listen to when you exercise?

I'm a HUGE fan of Lyrical Rap. Eminem, Logic, Token, Locksmith to name a few!

How do you Drink Metta?

I drink Metta about 30mins prior to working out OR before coaching. I like the clarity I feel after consuming it!

How do you #Elevate yourself and others?

I both literally and figuratively elevate people daily. As an athletic performance coach my job is to both help an athlete physically improve and elevate the confidence alongside of it. I get such a high off of seeing someone perform something that was once difficult with absolute confidence.

What is a goal that lights you up?

The fact that I have worked tirelessly to a point where 1) I rarely have to introduce myself at events and 2) people are seeking me out from all over the world gives me an incredibly powerful sense of accomplishment.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

This is both advice AND the entire basis to PPA Training. "Sometimes we must SLOW DOWN, in order to SPEED UP." I have these words tattooed on my leg in Spanish (that's another story lol).
